Back in the Saddle Again!

Good Monday morning to you!  It's beautiful, bright, and COOL here in NV this morning!  In fact the weather man said that we won't hit 100 degrees this month...unheard of in these parts...but I'm not complaining!

So anyway...I'm pokin' around in Blogville this morning and found a site I've seen before but today it brought me some new inspiration.  When you get a chance, check out Funky Junk Interiors.  The girl is amazing!  Well I'm looking at her bedroom makeover because, believe it or not, I don't have a dang headboard....what's it been, 13 years?  Who knows....anyway...so her's is cute but I don't think I am up to it right now and then I take a gander over at her window.  And I ask myself, "Self?  Are those SHEETS she's got hangin' up there?" And my self says, "You know, I think they are!"  Well shoot!  My crumby looking window treatment could use a little sprucing up and I just happen to have a couple of white, lacy, king size pillow cases hangin' around doing absolutely nothing, so I dig 'em out.

These are  what I threw up there a few weeks ago when Dace and Charis
came to visit.  They are just drop cloths I got from Home Depot and washed.  They're okay, but nothing to write home about.

So here's one of the pillow cases...I know, I know,
I should have ironed the dang thing, but who wants to fuss with an iron
when I'm full on into my inspiration mode??  Certainly not me!

Close up of the lacey bottom.  I have had these for YEARS!  YEARS I tell ya!

So I gathered 'em up and thought at first I'd just tie a hunk of twine around them but, since I
had my inspiration going full tilt, I dug out a piece of material I had stashed away and tied it around the middle.

One done.

Annnnddd, two!  What do you think?

A little further back.  I still need to fiddle around with 'em a bit, but for absolutely $0 I don't think they're half bad.

Mother's Day Weekend ~ 2011

How blessed am I that all of my kidletts were able to come visit for Mother's Day?  It was so wonderful having everyone together in one spot!  Thanks to my beautiful babies and their wonderful spouses for taking the time to come see me.  I love you ALL way up to God!

L to R:  Dace, Charis, Mikaela, me, Bree, Malia, Jason

We had dinner at Nora's on Flamingo, one of my favorite places.

Mmmmm nom nom...can't remember what it was called but there were capers and artichoke hearts in it!  :o)

Someone New In the House

About 6 weeks ago, my daughter's cat (kitten really) had babies.  She only had two, but unfortunately, one didn't make it.  :o(   Punky Poo immediately fell in love with the new arrival and named her Una.  (We weren't sure she was a girl for a few days so she/he was Uno for abit!)

And now she's wormed her way into our hearts.  What a sweet baby.  I can't help but think that God made kittens for his own joy.  They are so entertaining!  We could sit and watch her all evening, and have!

Not sure if we'll keep her or have to get rid of her, but for now we're really enjoying her.

My Favorite Tablescape...so far

Loved these black and white dishes I found at ROSS the other day, then after I put this tablescape together I found matching bowls.  I'll have to use those another time.  I really like how it turned out.

The placemats were on sale at Pier 1 a few months ago and I picked up these black ones along with some red ones.  The napkin rings came from Pottery Barn.  It's hard to tell, but they look like the handles of old silverware.  Love 'em!

I'm still thinking of some things I want to do differently with it, but for now this is the way it was. I may end up with some b&w wrapping paper I have down the center for a runner...maybe...we'll see. Let me know what you think. I'm always challenged when it comes to centerpieces.....any ideas?  These are different spheres and there is a huge variety of textures in them.

Napkins also came from Pier 1 on sale.  They have jumbo ric-rac around them.  The little white cup thingies were my mom's. (Love you way up to God, Mom!)  I've used them here for candle holders, but they would also work for a desert or fruit cup.  I like the ric-rac-ie edge on them that goes with the napkin edge.

Silver chargers were a steal at $1 each at Dollar Tree this past Christmas. I had originally bought them to paint with chalkboard paint for gifts for friend's children, but never got around to that so I used them here.  Still think that would be a cute idea to help keep kids busy during Thanksgiving dinner.  Maybe next year.

Thanks for stopping by~

Long Time No See!

Seems as though it's been foreverago that I posted.  No good excuses, just busy but no more than everyone else.  Let's see what I can come up with to show you.

I got these cute daisy plates from TJ Maxx and couldn't wait to do a springtime tablescape.  I was really happy with the way it turned out, and I didn't spend a lot of money...just mostly used things I already had around the house.

The cabbage leaf plates are from the clearance section of HomeGoods last year.  Picked up the cabbage bowls along the way. Should have straightened the silverware before taking pics!  Oh well!

Bunny s&p shakers from Cost Plus World Market and the napkins came from Pier 1.  The flowers in my pitcher were a find at The Dollar Tree.  Other stuff from around the house.
